(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - I made it!

WOW! 100 posts! When I started blogging I had no clear idea what I wanted the blog to be. Now 100 posts in I am having so much fun on the ride, 'meeting' so many great people. Thanks to all who have read my ramblings over the last months - stay tuned 'cos there will be many more to come!

Anything you can do - I can do Different

How much time do we spend comparing ourselves to others? Wishing we looked like this person, had the talent and skill of another? We spend our time scrutinising what we don't have, what we can't do, what we wish was different about our lives.

In an effort to change my mindset  - to appreciate my differences and imperfections, I will be joining with Kate at Picklebums for her Perfectly Imperfect project.

How am I perfectly imperfect? Well, let's see......

* I am not a perfect mother - but I love, cherish and encourage my children.

* I am not a perfect housewife - but my home is clean (if not always tidy!) and a place for our family to feel safe and friends to feel welcome.

* I am not a perfect person - but I aim to be kind, open minded and tolerant of people who don't choose to live the same way I do.

If everyone in the world was the same - imagine how boring life would be!

Thankful Thursday - a baby no longer....

In two days time my little girl will be turning three. My baby, she represents a lot of closure for me. We knew that we would be stopping at two children, so I suppose in a way I was saying goodbye to pregnancy, giving birth, breastfeeding and all the warm and fuzzy things that comes with having a newborn. I am thankful I was blessed with two healthy, happy babies.


I am also thankful we have scraped through the "terrible two's", albeit just barely at times. Who knows what the "threes" will bring, but I know this much - with this kid, it will be anything but dull! I have posted before about how different my girls are - Ashlee is definitely the harder child at this age - she certainly challenges me in ways Shannyn never did.


So today, my darling Ashlee, a baby no longer, I am thankful for you. For your smiles, your laughs, your cuddles and kisses. Your tears, your cries and the fact that every day you challenge me to play more, imagine more, see the world through the innocent eyes of a child, and open myself up to the greatest love anyone can ever know....

How the Other Half live.....

As a footy fan, there are some universal truths you learn pretty early on;

1) The hot food will be cold, and the beer will be lukewarm at best.
2) Footwear must be able to survive puddles, mud, spilt food and being trodden on as you navigate the crowds.
3) Grand final tickets are worth their weight in GOLD.

 
I felt like a tourist as I wandered around the corporate marquee on Saturday, discreetly trying to capture how 'the other half' celebrate a Grand Final. The free booze was flowing, the band was playing smooth jazz, ladies in smart trench coats and men in suits sipping lattes and being fed scallops and cheese platters.
I could SO get used to that! On to game time, and with the help of complimentary GF records and ponchos, even the most clueless attendee felt ready to slip into their seats for the big game....

With the best seats in the house (under cover and padded!) I was only mildly devestated that my team didn't come out the victors on the day. I can only image the party that was raging in the marquee late into the night as my Father and I wandered back to Flinders Street comtemplating what might have been....
The dilemma I now face is how to repay the generosity of the person who gifted us this experience  - any suggestions?

Hoping like hell the Maggies can pull off a miracle and beat Geelong.

- I know later this morning I will need to go here -


We have been lucky enough to be gifted some corporate lunch tickets to the big dance tomorrow, and I have no winter clothes that are appropriate!


- I know my Dad will be pacing here -

Most obviously NOT my Dad's letter box ;-)

... as the tickets are being couriered from interstate and we can't wait to get our hands on them!
